What exactly happens at the time of leaving the body during death?

This question cannot be answered by a living person as he has not experienced death. It cannot be answered by a dead person since he cannot come back to narrate the experience. Only an enlightened being, a person who has gone through death consciously and come back anew, can exactly explain what happens during death.

I am going to reveal the mystery of death now. This may be surprising, even shocking to many of you. But this is the truth. Whether you believe it or not, accept it or not, this is what happens at the time of death. We do not just have one body. The physical body is just one of the seven bodies we have. It is the only gross body that can be felt and seen in space-time. However, we actually have seven layers or bodies or planes of existence. Since these layers have a subtle existence they cannot be seen or felt by the ordinary eye.

Each of the bodies holds a corresponding emotion. For example, the pranic body holds all the desires that arise in life. The mental body holds all the feelings of guilt experienced in life. The etheric body holds the experiences of mental pain felt in life.

When the spirit leaves the body it crosses all the seven body layers. The physical body dies. But, the remaining six bodies do not totally die. If you are holding a lot of desires in your life, all those unfulfilled desires are held in the pranic body. So even though the physical body dies, the pranic body does not die. When the life force leaves the pranic body, the being experiences tremendous suffering. (more…)

How to come out of guilt, fatigue, allergies and phobias ?

The ayurvedic science says that we get stomach problems like constipation, etc., only if we constantly hold on to our body. If we can just relax and witness, if we start understanding that we are not the body, we will never have stomach problems. I tell you from my experience with millions of people that I have met and worked with, if you have stomach problems, try this technique for just two or three days. Constantly think that you are not the body. I assure you, you will be liberated from any stomach problem. Your stomach will simply be healed.

If you have stomach problems like ulcer, constipation, irritation, or any problem related to the stomach, this technique will help you. For two or three days, just continuously think, ‘I am not the body,’ ‘I am not the body.’ Just relax and allow the body to function. I tell you, within two or three days you will be healed.

All your allergies and your phobias are nothing but the connection of independent thoughts. The only thing needed is the courage to be unclutched. Please be very clear, I have healed at least one thousand people with allergies in the last three years.

When I was giving discourses in Hyderabad, India, a man complained about twenty five years of allergies to lentils. Even if he ate a spoonful of cooked lentils, his whole body would start swelling. I said, ‘Bring the lentils and eat them in front of me.’
I sat next to him as he ate. I just told him, ‘I’ll take care. I’ll heal. Don’t worry.’ He ate and there was no swelling. The allergy simply disappeared. All that is needed is giving these people the courage to be unclutched. When I said that I would take care, he was able to break that shaft of fear which was causing his allergy!

Let me tell you an incident from the days of my spiritual journey:

I went to a village where there were many elderly Lamas. I asked one villager, ‘Can I see an elderly Lama?’ He said, ‘Go to that field. There is a Lama working there. You can speak to him.’ I went up to the Lama and spoke to him while he was working in the field. (more…)

Meditation Technique to Be a witness

  • The sure way to handle any emotion including guilt is to be a witness.
  • Just watch it. Hindus call it being a sakshi.
  • Don’t do anything. Anything done under the impact of a negative emotion is bound to be wrong.
  • Later guilt will arise.
  • Just be a watcher, a witness.
  • See it. It is there.
  • You are not it. You are only the witness. You will be surprised how it goes away. It cannot be there forever.
  • By its very nature, the mind will change state. In a few minutes the guilt will go and leave no trace behind that it ever existed.

From head to heart meditation technique

  • Sit down and close your eyes.
  • Take slow and deep breaths, just for a few minutes.
  • Along with it, feel that your head is being pressed into your heart, into the chest region. Become totally headless.
  • You have no head now. You are headless.
  • Feel that you are breathing from the heart. Feel that you are seeing through the heart.
  • Feel that you are smelling through your heart. Feel very clearly that you are breathing through the heart. Listen through the heart, see through the heart and feel through the heart.
  • Stand up.
  • Have the consciousness from the heart and let your movements be as slow as possible.
  • Don’t walk. Just move your body around slowly. Remember that you are moving from the heart. Your center is the heart, not the head. Again and again, forget the head. Move from the heart.
  • Remember you are a headless being.
  • Stand in one place. Now increase the speed slowly, very slowly.
  • Remember to move from the heart, not from the head. Forget your head. You are a headless being moving.
  • (After few minutes) Sit down where you are. Just be without the head. Sit only with your heart. Relax.
  • (After few minutes) Slowly, very slowly, open your eyes.

Re-living is relieving!

The best way to relieve yourself of guilt is to re-live it.

  • Sit in a meditative mood.
  • Close your eyes and one by one bring to surface each of your guilts.
  • Re-live the wounds completely.
  • Do not console yourself about the guilt.
  • Open your eyes and write it all down in detail.
  • Write in as detailed a way as possible.
  • You will see that you are free from all the guilt feelings that you are carrying.

Why do we compare ourselves with others? Because we forgot that all of the confidence, intelligence, and vibrant energy that we need already exists inside us!

Emotions of fear, desire and guilt are subjective emotions. What I mean by this is that you do not need another person or even an object to create these emotions. Imagine that you are in a sound-proofed room with your eyes closed and with nothing to touch, taste or smell. You can still feel the emotions of fear or desire. But to compare yourself with another person and to feel jealous of him, you need the presence of another person.

Jealousy is therefore an objective emotion.

It needs an object to be activated. Jealousy starts from comparison. We always compare ourselves with others in various fields like looks, wealth, knowledge, name and fame and friends to name a few. When we compare ourselves with others we feel that somebody else has something more than what we have and we get caught in jealousy.

Many people carry the guilt of not being worthy of being loved.

This guilt happens from young age conditioning. When we are children, our parents tell us, ‘If you do this I will love you more. If you do that, I will give you a candy. If you listen to me, I will take you to a movie.’ All these things take root in you and you grow up with a strong impression that you should deserve to be loved.

You feel guilty if someone loves you without you doing anything to deserve it.

Many people when they come to me, carry the same guilt. Be very clear, you are here not because you deserve to be here. You are here as part of the flow of Existence, that’s all. There is nothing deserving or undeserving in this. I am like a full cloud ready to shower. You don’t need to do anything or deserve to be showered on.

There is no question of the master’s love asking for any qualification from you to receive it. If you are open, if you choose to stand with open arms, you will receive. Instead if you decide to open an umbrella of guilt and stand under it, naturally you will not receive much.

If you are caught in guilt, you can never feel connected to the Divine. The only way to get out of guilt completely is to feel the connectedness to your higher Self. But your very guilt acts as the barrier to this.

The only way to overcome this guilt is to start melting with gratitude.

According to me, guilt is the worst killer of intelligence. It will never let you move in your life.

Most of our ailments are due to psychological disturbances where guilt plays a major role.

Most of the time, our energy flow gets blocked because of guilt. If you look deep, wherever you are not able to move, wherever you are not able to take decisions, wherever you have fear, there will be some guilt lurking.

Acceptance (Completion) is a wonderful tool to relieve yourself of the pull and push between the past and future.

With acceptance you fall into the present straightaway. The first thing is to accept all the happenings of the outer world and all the happenings of the inner world. Whatever problems you have in the outer world and whatever problems you have in the inner world, just accept them in their entirety. Summarize all that you experience as problems and accept them in totality.

Accept all guilt, all mistakes and all failures. Even if you cannot accept, accept that you cannot accept. You will then relax and guilt will drop from your mind.

Just try this small experiment:

Just relax for three days with complete acceptance. If you relax for three days without the pull and push in the inner and outer worlds, are you going to lose all your wealth? Surely not! So there is no problem. In three days you are not going to lose anything. Why don’t you give it a try?

Just for three days, sincerely, utterly, accept everything in your life one hundred percent!

If you are not able to accept one hundred percent, then accept that you are not able to accept one hundred percent.

Even the acceptance of ‘I am not able to accept myself in the inner world and outer world’ will make you drop from the pull and push between the past and future.

The moment you understand, ‘I am unable to free myself from the pull and push of desires and fears, I am not able to accept my reality,’ that very understanding will start doing its job. (more…)

Many times you justify your guilt by labeling it as responsibility. No! How does one differentiate between guilt and responsibility? If you get into a low feeling when you think about it, it is guilt. If you feel intensity and integrity, it is responsibility. This is the clear scale. If you are pulled to low energy at the thought of what you did, then it is guilt. But if you feel good about it, then it is responsibility. Falling into guilt is a clear way of escaping responsibility. Once a man came to me complaining, ‘I am suffering. I have fourteen children.’ I asked him why he chose to have so many children. He replied, ‘Why? God gave me!’ The problem is, we do all that we want to do without taking responsibility for it. After doing it, we feel god made us do it! If we take up responsibility for every action, we will never land up in guilt or trouble.

All guilt related to extramarital affairs comes under this category of sheer lack of responsibility in behavior. Be very clear that extramarital affairs clearly show disrespect to another being, your spouse. You have no right to disrespect another being.

What is the meaning of the relationship of marriage?

Let me explain. Man as such is centered on muladhara chakra or the lust energy center in the body, and woman is centered on the swadhishthana chakra or the fear energy center in the body. That is why man gives in to lust easily and woman gives in to fear easily.

If you see during the traditional vedic marriage ceremony, in front of the sacred fire considered to be a representation of god, the man promises to the woman, ‘I shall give you security and release you from insecurity (fear).’ The woman promises to the man, ‘I shall give you love and free you from lust.’ Both of them decide to liberate the other from their weaknesses. One of the ultimate laws that is very difficult to understand is that nobody can live his life based upon any law. When I say nobody, I mean NOBODY. When I say any law, I mean ANY LAW.

Life is much superior to laws. Life is live intelligence. Any law, rule or regulation is based on a certain understanding of life. But life is beyond all our understanding and logic.

People ask me, ‘Why is this life created at all?’ I tell them, this ‘why’ can never be answered because it is based on your logic. But life is based on god’s logic. Your logic and god’s logic can never meet with each other. His logic is so big, so vast and so infinite.

Life is created by Him. Rules are created by you. Life is created by Him. Laws are created by you. Naturally, your laws can never match or fit with god’s logic or god-created life.

Life is natural. Laws are societal.

Life is physical. Laws are mental.

All your ideas, all your do’s and don’ts, all your morality, all your ‘right or wrong’ are given to you by society. Rules are needed to co-exist peacefully with a common understanding of the way certain things are. But beyond that, one’s own intelligence needs to be awakened so that life may be lived to its optimum.

By your very nature you are searching for freedom. When some morality is taught to you as a rule, either you try to get around it or if you can’t, you take revenge on the people who imposed the rule on you. Imposed morality always causes you to be or feel revengeful. You may not be obviously revengeful, but it will be there in you as a subtle thread. (more…)

Morality should happen out of integrity, not out of guilt!

What do I mean by integrity?

Integrity is being in the present moment and being only one solid personality and not many conflicting personalities.

It is seeing reality without the play of the mind. Once the mind steps in, duality also steps in.

Just by being intensely aware of the present moment, you can achieve integrity where there is only one and not two or three or many personalities fighting in you.

Only when the mind flits between the past and future, you become split personalities and integrity doesn’t set in. If the mind is on the present, automatically you become unified and integrity sets in.

All our humility, our morality, are more or less a pretense to others and to ourselves. We pretend because we are not solidly integrated within us. We ourselves don’t know which personality within us is authentic and so we get caught in such games. If we are integrated, we will be authentic in every action, and automatically we will be moral.

Please understand, you will never make mistakes if you are deeply aware at the time of making them.

When you are aware, you will be one solid personality and moral as well. When you stray from awareness, you will be many personalities and immoral also. Morality has to do with awareness, not with any other social rules.

Awareness is the only way to be naturally moral.

Awareness causes you to spontaneously take the right action in the right situation.

Morality can cause you to do the wrong action in the right situation because it doesn’t have the right base. Its base is not your own, it is built up by society. So you don’t feel connected to it. When you don’t feel connected, you cannot act with confidence.

Once you integrate yourself, you will be centered upon awareness. If you remain fragmented, there will be no awareness and you will depend on morality for guidance.

Guilt is the way to commit the same mistake again because you forget the mistake and start focusing on the guilt! To feel guilty is to be in sin. In fact, that is the only sin!

Guilt is actually the shadow of the ego.

When somebody says something and you become angry, it is the ego, your idea about yourself, that causes the anger. But right after, you start feeling guilty about losing your temper. Now, too, it is the same ego that causes the guilt. It gives you the feeling that you could have done differently to change the situation, but you did not do it. This is the dilemma. The ego creates the problem and the same ego goes on harboring guilt. If you understand this game of the ego, you can simply drop the guilt. Without allowing ego, if you allow only awareness, you will neither get unduly angry nor will you suffer for it. Because of the awareness, you will not be blinded with anger. You will get angry only to the extent required and automatically there will not be any guilt either!

If you have made a mistake there are two ways to treat it. One is to feel guilty. If you feel guilty, you will commit the same mistake again. Guilt is the way to commit the same mistake again because you forget the mistake and start focusing on the guilt. If you focus on the mistake, you will know how and where you went wrong and so you will not repeat it. If you focus on the guilt, you will not even analyze how and where you went wrong, so you are still very much capable of making the same mistake again!

People ask me, ‘Swamiji, I want to stop smoking. Please show me how to.’ I tell them, ‘First drop your guilt.’

They look surprised and say, ‘Swamiji, if I drop my guilt, I will start smoking even more!’ (more…)

A very subtle and cunning way of sowing guilt today is through the idea of heaven and hell!

People exploit your fear and greed by showing you ideas of hell and heaven. They create in you greed for heaven and fear for hell. They create so many concepts of hell and heaven and sell them to you.

They say, ‘If you practice these types of things, you will be rewarded with heaven. If you practice otherwise, you will be punished with hell.’ When you are given rules based on greed and fear, you automatically start creating deep guilt in you. Be very clear, heaven and hell are not physical locations. They are psychological states of your mind. One instant the mind may be in hell and the next it may be in heaven. The gates to heaven and hell open and close at any time alternately.

Till the age of twenty one, knowledge from family and society creates guilt. After twenty one, the guilt sown in you by family and society grows roots inside you. Then you start creating guilt for yourself without any reason. Guilt becomes a permanent guest in your being!

The guilt created by family and the guilt created by society are imposed guilt; they are like a crown that is passed on from one generation to another. The third guilt is the worst; it is the one which you create for yourself. (more…)

Till the age of fourteen, family and society create guilt for you.

An important guilt in this is the guilt of sex. Parents or family never open out the topic of sex. When there is a chemical change happening in you, you feel your body is new. A lot of questions arise and clarity is needed, but no one is prepared to give it. And to add to the confusion and desire, the media around you constantly bombards you with fantasies in that vulnerable age of change. To add to it, society instills in you the feeling that you are not enough unto yourself. It makes you feel guilty of what you are, what you do.

Once it convinces you that you are a sinner, you are caught in its grips. Then you cannot enjoy the joy of life any more.

According to me, guilt is the greatest sin. At least other sins will punish you after your death. Guilt will punish you when you are alive.

The Tibetan poet-saint Milarepa sang, ‘My religion is to live and die without regret.’

You are called a saint or a sinner only by society. As long as society labels you a saint, you are a saint. The moment society labels you a sinner, you are a sinner. If you kill someone in society, you will be called a murderer, you will be punished. But if you kill someone on the battlefield you will be called a hero, you will be given a big award! So there is no absolute scale to decide what is right and what is wrong. It is society’s own logic.

Why can’t we enjoy and encourage the natural joy and happiness the child lives in?

When you have desires you have guilt as well. Guilt is the opposite face of desire. Sometimes you feel guilty about desiring something because you feel it is not right to desire it. Other times you feel guilty when your desires are fulfilled because you feel you are not deserving of what you receive. When your desires do not come true you feel guilty because you feel you have not done what you ought to have. Desires invariably lead to guilt.

Guilt is nothing but your past decisions and actions being reviewed with your updated intelligence.

For example, when you were in school, you might have said a few mean things to one of your friends which caused a relationship to break. Now, this many years later, with the intelligence that you have, is it right to review that incident and feel guilty? No! At that time you had only that much intelligence, so you behaved in that fashion. Now, you have updated intelligence. It doesn’t make sense to review the past with your present intelligence. (more…)

In real powerfulness, you will do so much, but you will never feel you are doing so much

You will never do anything, but you think you are qualified for everything!  You will never take responsibility, but you think you can boss around everyone.  I tell you, this mental setup puts you in Indraloka where constant insecurity.  You may think, ‘Wow!  Indraloka is great!  I can drink Somarasa, see the dance of Rambha, Menaka, Urvashi, Tilottama, go around and smell the flowers of Parijata, rest under the Kalpavruksha, drink the milk of Kamadhenu…’  No!  You need to know, Heaven is constantly under threat!  So, when you build arrogance and show powerfulness outside, but inside you are powerless, because comparison itself is a attitude born out of powerlessness.  Inside you are deeply powerless, outside you constantly show you are powerful.  Literally, you will be like Indra!  Indra’s space is the most cursed space.  Indra’s space is like a sugar-coated, bitter pill!  Outside constantly he has to show with all the rathna, kireeda simhasana, gaana, gandharva, natya, chitra vidyadhara, but inside he will carry so much of powerlessness!  That is why constantly Heaven is shaken.  I tell you, if you are caught in the pattern of comparing yourself with the people whom you think are lower than you, you will develop so much of arrogance, pride, inauthenticity; you will never take the responsibility; you will never live the life of enriching yourself and others; but you will go on using all your energy to question, ‘Why he is not authentic?  Why he is not dedicated?  Why he is like this?  Why he is like this?’

I tell you, allowing the Master to enrich you is the best way of enriching yourself.

If you don’t enrich yourself, no one can save you.  If you enrich yourself, whatever you touch will be successful. 

Arrogance is the most powerful, cunning method which shows all the inauthenticity, irresponsibility you have on others.  And you go on comparing yourself with others, abusing others. In this way, you abuse yourself and destroy yourself!  Unless you get out of it, only when you enrich yourself with responsibility, you can become authentic again.  I tell you, when you carry this pride and arrogance, comparing yourself with others whom you think are lower than you, your health will collapse.  Be aware!  Only when you collapse, fall down, you will start looking into what is the real mistake, ‘Where did I go wrong?’  But now, I am telling you, this is the warning from the Guru!  Wake up!  Don’t allow this pattern to settle in you.  Complete with it.  Your immature arrogance, before it destroys your health irreparably, wake up!  I tell you, the second pattern is more worse than the first pattern, because in the first pattern you will have only psychological damages which is easily repairable. This arrogance, pride pattern damages your body, your body structure, your inner organs.  Not only that, you will have so much of hatred for yourself.  You will not even feel like repairing yourself; you will just only want to give up on you, because in arrogance you will always feel you are doing too much. 

I am giving you the post-mortem report of arrogance.  I have almost one million post-mortem reports of different patterns, because I went through all of that before getting enlightened.  Before getting enlightened you need to go through all types of patterns and get the post-mortem reports.  Only then you can become Paramahamsa.  Because you need this knowledge to help your disciples.  Only then you are certified as Paramahamsa.  So, Mahavatar Baba saw all the millions of post-mortem reports I had of different mental patterns, and only then he blessed me, “Paramahamsa”.  Understand, I am giving you the post-mortem report of this arrogance pattern.  It will give you the idea you are doing too much, but outcome will be nothing.  Nothing will be the outcome. 

In real powerfulness, you will do so much, but you will never feel you are doing so much. I tell you honestly, with all my Integrity and Authenticity I tell you, I feel my whole day is so free, I can do more and more and more.  I really feel I am not doing anything.  Every night when I sit to fall into Samadhi, I feel, ‘What is this?  I have not done anything today!’

Comparison

One of the natural tendencies for you is comparing yourself with others.  And, whether you compare yourself with the people whom you think higher than you or whom you think lower than you, you are going to fall into the space of powerlessness. If you compare yourself with the people whom you think higher than you, you will fall into the powerless space of guilt, giving up on you, the idea you are not worthy enough; you will fall into all these powerless spaces. If you compare yourself with people whom you think who are lower than you, again you will fall into the superiority complex, arrogance, which is also powerlessness.  

Please understand, at least in guilt you will be powerless and you will know you are powerless.  In arrogance and superiority complex, which usually comes to you if you have gone to Business School. No, I have seen in my experience, all the fellows, the business schools somehow destroy people.  Even among my sannyasis I have seen, fellows who have gone to Business Schools, so arrogant, abusive about everyone, about everything.  In arrogance, the biggest problem is you will be in powerless space, but you will not even know you are powerless; you will be thinking you are powerful. The fellows who are in guilt, the moment they hit the psychological problem, they will realize they are in the space of powerlessness. The fellows who are arrogant, only when they hit the physical problem, only when their health breaks down, they will understand they are in powerless space.  All these Business School fellows carrying arrogance, superiority, violence, they will never realize they live in powerlessness, they live in powerless space.  Their health will collapse; then they will start realizing. ‘something is wrong. Why?’

I tell you, whether you compare yourself with people whom you think are higher than you or you think are lower than you, you are in the space of powerlessness and you are destroying yourself.  And you are going to destroy yourself unless you raise yourself, unless you complete with yourself.

What is sex ?

The most talked about, thought about and written about subject is sex. The most misunderstood, misinterpreted and confusing subject is also sex! We either try to avoid the subject, or we try to indulge in it. Sex is deeply buried in our unconscious minds. Right from the start, we rarely find someone who can enlighten us on the subject of sex. Sex, more than any other subject, needs to be illumined with the light of consciousness. 

Sex is a tremendous creative energy. It is a meditative energy. The whole world has arisen out of sex energy. 

Our ancient enlightened masters, the rishis, have given us great clarity on this subject. Do you know that Vatsyayana, the man who wrote the Kama Sutra, the book on the science of sex – was a sannyasi ? He was celibate.  In fact, he delivered the Kama sutra to his own mother.

Vatsayana was questioned once, “What authority do you have to speak on this subject?”. A natural question! I think many of you might be silently putting this question to me also! Have you ever watched two people playing a game of chess? When you simply watch the game, very often, the right move will suggest itself to you – but somehow it never occurs to the two players! What do think could be the reason? Because we are not involved in the game. So, only the man who has come out of the game, who is a mere watcher, can give you the right idea about it. A master is the one who knows the Whole. That is why he becomes the authority on any subject. 

Tantra deals beautifully with the whole concept of sex. In the scriptures, Lord Shiva speaks to Devi Parvati on this subject. Those insights recorded several thousands of years ago are found to be relevant in biology today. Biology has proved that no man is 100% man, and no woman is 100% woman. A man is 51% man and 49% woman. Likewise a woman is 51% woman, and 49% man; just a difference of 1%. This is the basis behind the symbolic representation of Lord Shiva as Ardhanareeshwara, the figure that is half male and half female. Whether we accept it or not, we are an embodiment of both male and female energies. We are whole, not divided. In order to be complete, to be whole, it is essential that we are able to accept and express both the masculine and feminine aspects of our nature. 

But does it really happen? Are we allowed to express both aspects?

Right from the moment of birth, society labels you as either male or female. And it expects you to start behaving accordingly. Society does not allow boys to express their feminine side, nor girls to express their masculine side. Right from a very young age, one half of our is suppressed. A male child is not encourage to play with dolls and kitchen sets. A female child is not encouraged to play with race cars and rockets. Even when it comes to colors of their clothes and other belongings, there is discrimination. You choose blue for boys and pink for girls, it is not?. Until the age of 7, the child is not conscious of being male or female. That is why a very young child has a sense of completeness. He is centered and secure. He is so beautiful and joyful to look at! 

Man’s inherent nature is fulfillment. He came from fulfillment and looks to attain as well. So as a child, he begins to search for the lost half, the suppressed half, unconsciously. He starts looking at the outside world for a substitute for his own lost half. The male child starts searching for a female presence and the female child for a male presence. 

This is where the whole idea of sex starts. This is how the idea of sex takes root.

“Unclutching – De-program the inner self” (part 2)

Now we are coming to the initiation part. Any thought may suddenly click with you. Oh God! Yes that is what is going on in me, that is what I am doing. One important truth – even if you want, even if you try consciously, you cannot possess, sit, catch your suffering. Its a very important truth. Even if you try to catch, you cannot catch your suffering. Because continuously your suffering is also replaced by different thoughts.

One person came to me and asked “Swamiji, I am suffering from lustful thoughts. Please give me solution”.

I told him “Just sit. Half-an-hour your mind should not go anywhere else. Meditate on lustful thoughts. Think only lustful thoughts. No other thoughts allowed”.

In 10 mins he opened his eyes and said “I am not able to concentrate on lustful thoughts Swamiji”.

I said “What are you talking. You just now said that you are haunted by those thoughts. I asked you to meditate on it. Just be with it. Now you are saying your mind is not staying on those thoughts, your mind is going somewhere else.”

Understand, fortunately you can have only one thought at a time. Am I right ?. You can have only one thought at a time, the moment some other thought is coming in your inner space means the earlier thought has lost its power or influence over you. Am I right ? . Please follow with me in every statement. Fortunately you can have only one thought at a time, the moment a new thought has come inside your system the old thought has lost its power or influence over your system. For example, the moment you have decided to stand up and leave, you renounced the thought of sitting and listening. The moment you renounce the thought of standing and leaving, you decided to sit and listen. The moment you stand up, you renounce the thought of sitting. The moment you decide to sit down, you renounce the thought of standing up. Any thought which comes in you newly replaces the old thought. The old thought loses its power or influence over you by new thought. Am I right ?

One person came and asked me “Swamiji, I am haunted by death fear. I have so much fear about losing my wealth and about my death. Give me some solution. Please remove fear “.

I told him “Please have cup of coffee”.

He said “What do you mean Swamiji ?”.

I said “Think of having cup of coffee and have cup of coffee”.

He said “What is there. How can that help me.”

I said “The moment you are able to think you are having cup of coffee or decide to have a cup of coffee, the fear which is haunting your inner space has left your inner space”. Am I right ? Unless the death fear which is haunting his inner space leaves his inner space, he cannot think of having a cup of coffee. Am I right ?. So naturally, a simple thought to have a cup of coffee can remove the so called powerful death fear.

That guy said “No, no, no, Swamiji. It looks too simple. But the death fear comes back what should I do ?”

“If it comes back, have one more cup of coffee. That’s all”.

“No, no, no you don’t understand how seriously I am talking. You are playing with me”.

I said “I am not playing. Just simple thing. Understand, just simple understanding. Fortunately you can have only one thought at a time. The moment a new thought comes, it means the old thought has lost its power over you. Otherwise, new thought cannot come inside. The old thought cannot be replaced. If the old thought is so strong it will just multiply and sit on you. The moment a new thought comes it means the old thought has lost its power over you and it has left you. Only because of that a new thought can come inside. So, the moment you can have a thought to have a cup of coffee or cup of water, the so called death fear has left you”.

He is not able to understand. He said “No, no. It cannot be so simple. I am really having fear Swamiji. It comes back”.

I told him “Now you know the method how to replace the death fear once. Then do the same thing again and again. That’s all.”.

He said “I drank cup of coffee once. Next time what to do? “.

“Have a cup of butter milk. That’s all”.

Understand any thought which comes inside your inner space newly replaces the old thought. Even if it was worst fear. Even if it was worst depression. Even if it was worst suffering. Even if it was worst attachment. Even if it was lust. Anything it can be or anything it may be.  The new thought happening in you proves, your inner space is now replaced by a new thought. The old thought has lost its power over your inner space. Any thought which can lose its power over your inner space, why are you afraid of it. Why should you be afraid of it ?.

Constantly we are carrying the fear that we will not be able to conquer our fear. We are carrying the fear, we will not be able to go beyond our attachment. We are carrying the fear we will not be able to go beyond our suffering. Understand an important thing – this is what I call “the click”, “initiation” – If a thought can be replaced, if a thought can leave your inner space once. It means it can be again and again removed as many number of times as it comes. That’s all. People tell me “How many times I can replace ?”. What is there. Every time when it comes have a cup of water in front of you, sip once and keep it. Play with your mind. Tease your mind, till it stops. “It may look very funny. No, no, no it looks too simple. How can this be done. I may look like a mad person”. Nothing wrong. Looking is perfectly alright than being. If a new thought can replace the old thought, then naturally no thought can occupy or replace or possess your inner space eternally. This is what is the click, the basic truth. A simple thought like having a cup of water can replace the so called powerful death fear. It means what, all you need is cup of coffee to conquer your fear. All you need is cup of water to conquer your lust. But mind says “No, no, no. It is not that easy. No, no Swamiji, it comes back what to do ?”. If it comes back, you also again come back. You also again stand up. Understand if you can replace 10 times, the 11th time the thought will not come. The frequency will come down. Fortunately you have a pure inner space which doesn’t get corrupted by the flowing thoughts. An important thing – a fortunately you have a screen which doesn’t get burned by burning thoughts. If you project a burning scene on the screen will the screen be burnt ?. No. Same way, you have a pure inner space which does not get corrupted or polluted or get possessed by a particular idea or a thought. This understanding deeply can completely liberate you from all the sufferings you create for yourself. It can bring tremendous self healing to you, tremendous freedom to you and tremendous courage and confidence. You see, now, if any fear arises in you. What you need to do ? a cup of coffee. And one more thing, immediately mind will question – ‘No, if I handle all my fears like this, what will happen if my property is taken away. Who will maintain my family?’. Don’t bother. You have an innate intelligence which I call prarabdha. It is powerful enough, capable enough to manage your life using your body and mind. All you need to do is stop creating the sufferings which you are creating. Please be very clear, life does not happen because of you, life happens in spite of you. 

Come back, unclutch again and again. Do not clutch the thoughts and create or give meaning to it. Unclutch again and again, come back and rest. You may say “How to unclutch, I don’t think I can unclutch from my mind”. This very thought ‘I don’t think I can unclutch from my mind’. You have already unclutched. Because this new thought can come only if the old thought leaves you. Fear can come only if the lust leaves, lust can come only if the fear leaves. You can have a thought to have a cup of water only if the fear leaves. You can have a thought to have a cup of coffee only if the suffering leaves. The moment you are able to think that I should have a cup of coffee already the so called suffering has left. If a thought is sitting inside your inner space, how can you have a new thought, you can’t. Understand, handle your enemy one at a time. If you think – ‘No, no, no. Its a long story you don’t know Swamiji. I tried 1000 techniques, I can teach you many more techniques nothing works. And my mind is not that simple as you think. May be your mind is simple that is why it worked’. Please understand, even in foolishness we are not in peak. That is the one of the important truth we need to understand. All of us have a very clear idea we are in the worst ignorance. No, it is not. Just this simple one truth – If a simple thought of having a cup of coffee can come inside means, any serious thought, it may be pain or suffering or anything it can be, it has left me. That is why a new thought is able to come, that is why I have an inner space to entertain a new thought. So, as long as you have freedom to entertain a new thought, you have a inner space to entertain a new thought, be very clear you cannot be possessed or tortured by any suffering or by any depression or any pain.

Because you can just bring one more new thought, the moment you bring a new thought what happened, the old thought has left you. Unless it leaves, you cannot bring a new thought. So be very clear your power to bring a new thought itself proves that you have power to drop the old thought. Instead of looking at the ability to replace, you are looking at the ability to bring it back. You have both. If you are constantly looking at the ability to bring it back you will create suffering. If you are constantly looking at the ablity to remove you will feel liberation. Understand, what you mother that you hatch. Hen mothers the egg and chicken comes out. If you are mothering the thought – ‘you can replace any suffering’, you will bring that into reality. If you are mothering the thought – ‘whatever I replace will come back’, you will bring that in your experience. If you are mothering the thought that it is going to come back, it will come back. If you are mothering the thought that it is going to go out, it will go out. Where you put your awareness, where you put your attention is the important thing. Understand your very ability to get a new thought shows that you have ability to discard an old thought. Any thought can be discarded by any simple thought. This simple understanding is more than enough to unclutch and to rest.

One important thing, whenever any fear, any unsolvable problem comes, all you need to do from today is have a cup of water, that’s all. Your mind will get little perturbed and shaken. Your suffering can rule you just because you are afraid of it. Have you seen in the movies, the underworld don’s when they get created, they too will have deep fear. But just your fear towards them will empower them. Same way your mind too has fear about you. Your fear towards your mind just empowers your mind. Your mind also sometimes feels “Oh, what is this”.But you are more afraid of your mind then naturally what happens your mind gets empowered. One more thing, even once if you can replace your depression from your inner space have confidence that I have replaced, I can do it again. So, if it comes back 10 times, let me do it 10 times. That’s all.

There is a very beautiful story in  Buddha’s life. Buddha says “Whenever I sat in meditation that I am going to get up after few hours I never became enlightened. Once I decided if I am not going to become enlightened, I am not going to get up from this seat – idam asanam sushyate sareeram“. This sanskrit sloka means let this body dry up in this very place till I become enlightened, I am not going to move. The moment He created this strong clarity, authentic sankalpa (will), next second He become enlightened. All you need to do when you replace your suffering, if you are thinking – “No, no, 10 times today I can replace 11th time if it comes back tomorrow only I have to try”. Then nothing will happen. Decide till it stops coming, I am going to replace. Thats what I call courage – dheera. And once you have replaced means you can start laughing at it. “Arey! I was afraid of you so many years, I was getting shaken by you for so many years. All it takes to push you out is a glass of water or a cup of coffee”. Nothing else. A thought to stand up is more than enough to remove the worst suffering from your inner space. Whatever can be it looks too simple. That is why the problem is because it looks too simple, people come and tell me ” No, no Swamiji, it cannot be so simple. I think you missed some where Swamiji”. No, really people think, “He is too young may be He knows only few things. That is what He is teaching”. No that is the problem. Understand, truth is simple.

Ramana Maharshi sang a very beautiful song. He says “So easy the enlightenment science”. I tell you it is neither difficult nor easy. Even if you say it is easy there is little difficulty. It is not even easy it is constantly happening in you. Don’t you understand. Every moment a thought is being replaced by a new thought. Why are you afraid that you will bring your old thought back. Its like trashing your emails and bringing it back from a trash can. Relax!.

Constantly your thoughts are getting replaced, this itself shows nothing can possess your inner space. Nothing can over power you. Nothing can over rule you. You have independent intelligence to replace any suffering. You have freedom to replace any fear. You have freedom to replace any negativity.

Its a very simple truth. This is what I call “Unclutching”. If you can understand one truth and connect with this. If this one truth clicks, this can destroy the root of ignorance. The root of mind. Nothing else is needed. And one more important thing, nothing else can work. Please understand nothing else can work. Anything you try to do by creating a new thought, creating new idea.. people come and tell me “Swamiji, I want to escape from my suffering, should I chant some mantra“. I tell them that will become one more suffering. I have seen people chanting Rama, Krishna, Rama, Krishna, Rama, Krishna…..and in between shouting “Have you purchased the vegetables….Did you fill the accounts…then again Rama, Krishna, Rama, Krishna…”. Understand many time when you try to repeat something you create a new shaft. People feel offended, “how can you say mantra japa does not help. I am not saying it does not help. Of course let me tell you openly, it does not help. I just thought I will be socially polite. But let me be open. The satya is much more important than being socially polite. Understand, I tested it in my life for 10 years. Not with one mala, I will have 2 malas. By the time I finished both malas, I have chanted 10008 times. I have done Enough!. I tell you that only creates one more guilt that you are not able to do mantra continuously. Because by that time you move the next bead already one thought has come. If somebody records what happens in your inner space it will be like this – “Rama, Krishna, move the next bead, Rama, Krishna, move the next bead, Rama, Krishna, move the next bead”. This is what is going on inside. “Oh! I think I chanted too many times, let me count”. I know because I have done it. Not only that I have always seen people when they start counting the beads with closed eyes, after sometime they will touch the mala with other hand and see how long it is going to take. Is it going to take 5 more min or 3 more min, where that bead is there. Let me tell you its from my experience. Understand, an important truth do not try to create one more shaft. Just realize – the shaft which you believe as exists, does not exist. That’s all you need to understand and rest in that unclutched awareness – Nirvikalpa Satya. 

Let me explain exactly what is unclutching. When you sit silently, you will see so many thoughts coming up. Do not connect all of them and give a meaning to it. The moment you give meaning to the words either you will try to suppress or you will try to execute. Either you will try to go behind them or you will try to suppress them. Creating a thought is Brahma’s work, maintaining a thought  is Vishnu’s work, destroying a thought is Rudra’s work. If you stop doing all these 3 work, you will become parabrahman. That’s all. Creation, maintainence, destruction – relax from all three. Relaxing from all three is what I call unclutching. Let me give you one more detail or very strong truth – When a thought arises in you instead of giving meaning to it, just unclutch, means just relax to the source. When a thought arises if you start giving meaning to it, what you will do, either you will try to do what the thought says or you will try to suppress. Don’t do both. Instead of putting attention towards the meaning of the sound, just see the source of the sound. Then your mind will say – “I am feeling bored”. This is one more thought. How will you have the idea that you are feeling bored. The boredom which you experienced 10 years ago, the boredom which you experienced 9 years ago, the boredom which you experienced yesterday are independent experiences. Why are you connecting all of them and giving that idea “Boredom”. Only when you connect all of them and give the idea this is what is boredom, now you will think – “Yes, I am having the same experience. I am having boredom”. Do not connect and clutch and see. Just see. If your mind says “I am feeling bored”. Just say “What is boredom ?. Let me not give some meaning out of my past clutching. Let me see what you mean by boredom. Let me see how it feels like”. Attend your enemy one thought at a time. If you think all thoughts put together is your enemy, you empowered your enemy. When you work with your enemy, divide and rule. If you think all your enemies have gathered together, you will start having all unnecessary fears. Your enemies are not that intelligent as you think always. This is one of the important sutra. Even in your life, your enemies are not that intelligent and understanding and co-operative as you think. Just like you, they will also have problem among themselves. If you think your mind is your enemy, do not empower it by saying  – It is one single, huge organism. NO. Handle it one thought at a time. Because in your hand you have only one weapon, means you have only one thought. One thought is one weapon. With one weapon or one thought how will you handle 10,000 thoughts. No, you can’t. So, tell your mind, come one at a time, we will face each other. We will see face to face. Face every single thought, unclutch from every single thought. Your mind will say “No, no, half-an-hour I unclutched.  Now again thoughts are coming”. The unclutching happened 30 mins ago, the unclutching happened 20 mins ago, the unclutching happened 10 mins ago are totally different individual experiences. Why are you connecting all those experiences and feeling that this unclutching and that unclutching is same. No. This moment what is happening in me is an independent experience. You need to put your whole attention and awareness on this very subtle truth only then the click will happen. If the click happens you are blessed. Because this very single click can be used as a key for so many difficulties and problems in your life. It will revolutionize the way in which your mind functions, the way in which your mind makes decisions, the way in which your fears threaten you and your desires drive you crazy. The whole thing will be re-organized, the whole thing will be revolutionized. If you know any big idea or goal drives you crazy can be replaced just by a thought of having a cup of coffee. Will you have respect for that goal, will you have respect for that ideal. Suddenly you will see, what all you thought as goal, does not have any power over your inner space. You say “No, no, no. That and all is really needed for life. I don’t want to leave this, I don’t want to leave that”. You may try to catch here, there, here, there. But what to do even if you try to catch it is slipping. How long will you try to catch a river which is flowing. You can’t. Suddenly you will see an immovable, authentic self arises in you – this is what I call – living enlightenment.

An authentic being which does not need your mind to operate your body is what I call Living Enlightenment. Your being does not need your mind to run your body. If your mind is constantly staying inside you, it is just because of fear – what will happen to me, how will my body run if my mind leaves me. You do not understand if your mind leaves you, your life will happen in a much better way, in a much more intelligent way. Because your mind is culprit. Your thinking is problem. Your dilemma is suffering. Your movement is depression.

When you sit if thoughts are rising, just remember let me unclutch and unclutch. I am not going to empower this thought by following or by fighting. Let me unclutch. Again in 2 seconds one more thought will come, again let me unclutch. After few minutes you will see continuously you are repeating the thought – “I am unclutching, I am unclutching”. Then unclutch from that too. The moment you remember you, immediately unclutch. Unclutch from the very idea about you.

Understand, you have two identities. The identity which you carry and project to the outer world as you are, this is called ‘Ahamkara‘. And another one identity which you carry in you, which you believe as you inside your heart, this is called ‘Mamakara’. Your whole life is nothing but the fight between ahamkara and mamakara. How you want to project you and how you believe as you. What you want to project you and what you believe as you. Your life is nothing but the fight between these two identities. Ahamkara will always be much more than what you are – superiority complex. Mamakara will always be much lower than what you are  – inferiority complex. Your whole life is nothing but the suffering between this inferiority and superiority. Whether the thoughts are related to inferiority or superiority, neither give life nor suppress them. Just unclutch.

Now the important fear comes – “If I constantly unclutch who will run my life”. Understand, your prarabdha, with which you created your body, that is what I call bio-memory. Your  bio-memory is intelligent enough to run your body and maintain your infrastructure and expand your wealth. Trusting this truth is what I call “Bhakti”. Krishna says “Ananya-s-chintayanto Maam Yae Janaah Pary-upaasatae. Taesham Nithya-abhi-yuktaanaam Yoga-kshemem Vahami-aham” means “whoever resides in me, remembering constantly me, their needs and comforts, I myself bring and see that things stay with that person”. This assurance He gives for the people who have the fear of unclutching and relaxing. I tell you just try for 10 days, I am not saying try for whole life. Try unclutching for 10 days, if your balance sheet does not increase forget about Me and My technique. You will see it straight away adds to your life. Nothing will be reduced, nothing will be taken away. Your clarity, your profession, your relationship, your health everything will be added. 10 days constantly unclutch, whether you are eating, sleeping, driving, constantly try to unclutch. If it does not improve your life then forget about it. Don’t bother. I tell you, you will never miss it. I have seen how it just transforms your life. Don’t have this hypothetical fears. Mind exists based on hypothetical fears. If you look into the hypothetical fears mind will disappear. Do not entertain the hypothetical fears of your mind. Just try for 10 days. When I say this I am responsible for this words. Just try 10 days this unclutching, I assure, I have seen it only adds your health, adds to your wealth, adds to your well-being and adds to your relationship. Only your fear creates an idea that who will run my life. You will run your life in a much better way when you are unclutched.

You pick up few thoughts here and there. A conveyor belt is moving with thoughts on it, you pick up few thoughts and create a shaft. Either you pick up all sufferings and create a pain shaft or pick up all joyful memories and incidents and create a joy shaft. If you try to elongate the joy shaft or break the pain shaft both is impossible because the shaft does not exist. Third important thing, fortunately every new thought proves the old thought has lost its influence over your inner space. This proves no suffering can overtake you. Eternal hell does not exist. Understand, the eternal hell is a foolish concept taught to you to torture and frighten you. Because even here nothing can be eternal, it just moves. There is a beautiful one liner – you can’t step into the same river twice.  Because by that time you put your second step the river has moved. I tell you you can’t step into the same river even once, because by the time you put your foot and it reaches the ground, water has moved. Constantly the very replacement by new thoughts shows that you have a inner space which gets replaced, which gets rejuvenated, which gets refreshed, which is untouchable, which is pure. Because the inner space is pure you are able to have new, new thoughts. The new thoughts happening proves old thoughts have lost their influence over you. So, do not be afraid of depression, suffering, fear, desire or anything. Do not be afraid of internal enemies. Let you be liberated from the internal enemies.

And the last essence, the ultimate thing – Do not be afraid of unclutching. A small example, in North India they will have a strange way of trapping the birds. I have seen in my wandering. I have spent my 10 years in walking all over India, begging and eating and sleeping under the trees and meditating. I have seen in North India they will have a trap to catch birds. They will put a stick and hang it between two trees, that’s all. When this stick is hanging, the bird will come and sit on the stick. When it sits just because of its own weight, the stick will turn upside down as shown in the image below. This poor bird starts thinking that if it will relaxes or leaves the stick, it will fall and die. I have seen for hours the bird will be hanging, the poor guy will be fluttering, will be trying its best, shaking the wings. But he will be hanging thinking that if he relaxes or lets go, he will fall and break his head and die.

Have you heard anytime a bird falling from sky and breaking his head and dying, NO. Fool does not know that if he lets go he can just fly, he can be liberated. I have seen the bird will be hanging, this hunter will slowly come after 2-3 hours, pick up that bird and put it in the cage. How that foolish bird is thinking, if it lets go he will fall die. Same way we have the fear that if we let go of our mind, if we unclutch we will fall and our life will become mess, we will disappear. Understand, there is no record, the bird which opened up has fallen and died. Same way a person who has unclutched has lost something in his life. One more thing, the bird feels that the stick is a security, it hangs on to it. When the hunter comes not only he loses the stick which he thinks as security, he is eternally prison-ed. Same way what you think as security, your mind and life, if you hold on to it what happens when the hunter which is Death comes , not only what you think as security will be lost and also you will be put to death. Just like that bird in a very foolish way we are hanging to that stick, the mind, with the fear if we let go what will happen.  Sometimes I have seen the birds which are flying, they will come and poke this bird, and tell “Hey, let go, I had the same problem. When I relaxed I just started flying”. All it takes is 2-3 seconds to balance. The bird will be topsy-turvy, when it leaves, may be 2 second it will start falling, and it just turns and start flying. Courageously facing that 2-3 second chaos is what I call “Tapas”. When you unclutch, there will be some revolution in your life, in day to day thinking, decision making, in your daily routine, in your life style. Courageously going through that revolution, going through that transformation which happens in you is what I call tapas. Rarely the bird which was stuck like this in the trap, but had courage and let go of the stick, it comes back and tells the other bird which is hanging to let go, relax. Understand, if the bird relaxes it will be enjoying its freedom. Same way if you let go you will become paramahamsa. Let me tell you I was hanging, now just because I have seen this in my experience, with that courage, with that authenticity, with that satya (truth)…. Please understand, when it comes from the experienced inner space even if your logic is fighting don’t bother you will have that experience. When it comes from the truth, it will reach your true self and being, all you need to do is just let go, you will become paramahamsa. Let you live enlightenment.

Life lived in an unclutched way is what I call Living Enlightenment.

“Unclutching – De-program the inner self” (part 1)

Let me express a key word – Mahavakya, the word which you need to completely understand. May be modern day ‘Mahavakya’. The word is “Be Unclutched”. Now let us try to analyze and internalize this one truth, one mahavakya. We have beautiful different Mahavakyas in Vedic tradition – Aham Brahmasmi, Tatvamasi, Pragnam Brahmam, Sarva Kalvidam Brahmam. These are all different Mahavakyas. Be Unclutched – What do I mean by the word – being Unclutched. Let me try to explain it with a simple diagram, how, continuously our mind is working and how we are clutching, connecting and creating a life or suffering and how we are creating the ignorance or depression.

 

Thoughts are happening in your system the way it is shown in the above diagram. Each block represents a thought. Different shape, different size, different length, different width, different kinds of thoughts. Sometimes, a thought (J) is about some joyful experience which you had, sometime about some suffering (S) which you had, sometime you have some guilt thoughts (G), again sometime some joyful (J) memories, again some painful memories (P) and some depression memories (D)….different, different thoughts. If you just do a simple experiment, just for 5 min, if you write whatever goes inside you without editing as it is and read that page again, suddenly you will realize that you are nothing but a bunch of unconnected, independent, illogical, unclutched thoughts. Please understand the thinking flow which is happening inside you is not logically connected. For example, if you see a dog in the street, suddenly you will remember the dogs which you have seen when you were a child or the dogs about which you used to be afraid. Then you will remember your childhood days, then you will remember the teacher under whom you studied. Then you will remember the place where teacher stayed. The link will go on. But there is no logical connection between the dog which you have seen in the street and the teacher with whom you studied when you were young. Of course, both of them barked at you.  There is no logical connection. Suddenly from where the mind moves to where, there is no logical connection.

In the west they have a software called dragon software, whatever you speak it will transcribe. I also use sometimes for writing books. If your mind is connected to a dragon software how it will transcribe, transcribe the same way whatever goes on inside. With the same kind of grammatical errors or with the same accent or with same words or same pronunciation, even if it doesn’t make any sense just pen down. Suddenly you will see you are nothing but bunch of independent, illogical, unconnected and unclutched thoughts. You do not know why a particular thought is raising after a particular thought, there is no logical reason, just something arises and then next something else is arising, next something else is arising, thoughts are flowing, words are flowing.

When you are suddenly aware of your body and your existence, at those moments any thought which flows in front of you becomes your life, you start giving attention to it either to fulfill or to escape. Its like a projector light is there, any slide which is kept in front of the projector light is seen as a reality in the screen. One problem is in your inner space the projector light is not continuously ON, it just comes and goes, comes and goes. Whenever you are not aware of your existence, many time, even though your eyes are open, even though your body is moving, you will not be aware of your existence. You can see in your life, you will get into your car at your house, drive for 30 mins, only after you reached the office, park the car and come out of the car suddenly you will realize – Oh! I finished my driving, i reached my office. You have taken 200 decisions in that 30 mins, right, left, giving brake, stopping for signal, but you are not aware of your existence. That is why you don’t remember all these decisions you took and all these things happened in you. Those few moments the projector light was OFF. Any slide which was moving in front of it is not part of your life.

Again for no reason the light is ON, when you are aware that you exist, whatever thought moves in front of you, they become your part, they become your life. Understand, its a very subtle truth. Your life is totality of all the thoughts moving in front of you but unfortunately many time, many major decisions, thoughts, the life changing incidents happen when you are not aware. Its like the film which moves when the projector light was OFF, that also is part of your life. But, unfortunately you are not aware of the scenes, decisions, thoughts which went on, which contribute to your life, which are also part of your life, just because the light is OFF. Every single moment which passes in your life without you being aware of this moment, of your presence, is suffering. Either directly or indirectly it will add to suffering. Either directly you will invite or indirectly you will create a situation for the suffering. When you turn your car indicator it blinks, the same way your consciousness also blinks, you do not know when it is ON or OFF. If you just see the thought flow in front of you suddenly you will realize – Oh god, all these things are going on in me, then what is going on inside me, I myself do not know where I am heading, I myself do not know what is happening in me. Here, understand the above diagram, we will see more deeper and deeper truths.

First, I want all of you to understand, you are not aware of all the decisions, all the thoughts moving inside you, inspiring you to live the way in which you are living, inspiring you to think the way you are thinking, inspiring you to be the way you are. You are not aware but constantly we believe we are aware. This is the first illusion. Whenever I say this people get frightened, Oh god! already I have enough suffering now He is adding one more suffering, one more fear that I do not know where I am heading. Understand, I am not adding suffering, I am just helping you to experience, open up to the reality. One more thing opening up to the reality even though it feels like suffering in the initial level it will always lead you to the joy and bliss because ‘Sat’ which means ‘The Truth’ by its very nature is ‘Chit’ means ‘Power/Consciousness’ and ‘Ananda’ means ‘Bliss’. By its very nature, ‘Sat’ leads to ‘Chit’ and ‘Chit’ leads to ‘Ananda’. Even though in the initial level it feels like little more responsibility, little more load.

Now itself many of your minds would have decided “No, no, no, what He says may be right that I am not aware, but I can’t become aware of everything happening in front of me. Oh, living in the present moment, being aware of whatever is going on, that and all is not for me. I tried many times Swamiji, you don’t know how many techniques I tried.”  Understand, we are not that dumb as we think. We have huge possibility, huge potentiality. May be the right initiation has not happened. The right click has not happened. So, don’t close the file. No, no, no, I tried many times, you don’t know how many gurus I went to, how many techniques I have tried. There are many people like that. I call them professional seekers. Their profession is seeking. Anywhere, any board, any swami, any guru, any saint, any mahatma, anybody they will be there. Not for learning, just for judging. What is he teaching let me see. People come to me and ask me “I know everything Swamiji, just give me in essence what extra you can add to me“. I tell them “Sorry, I don’t know anything extra to add you, I can only remove something from you. What you think as knowledge I can remove that so that the truth can happen.” Please do not come to the decision “No, no, He is again I think going to teach living in the present moment. I know I tried many times, it doesn’t work out, if it works out in sometime it goes away“. No, I am not going to teach you living in the present moment. Because you are living, why should I teach. Even if you are suffering about past, you are suffering in the present. Even if you are worrying about your future, you are worrying in the present. So, you are in the present. I am not going to teach you to be in the present. All I am doing is trying to take away some ideas which you think as your mind.

The first truth is you are not aware of all the things which is happening in front of you. You do not remember your biography as it happened. You remember only as you want it. When people ask me many time I tell them, if your TPS (thought per second) comes down, you will have clarity about your past and future. Then they tell me “About past already I have clarity, why should I have clarity about my past by bringing my TPS down. Now itself I know my past“. No, please understand you don’t know your past, you don’t remember, recollect the past as it happened. You recollect only as you want it, not as it happened. Just a simple example, if you see the above diagram, your life was filled with different kinds of incidents – joy, suffering, guilt, pain, depression… different, different quality of incidents.  You do not look at the life as it is. Usually what you do…what we do. I use the word ‘WE’ because sometime people think the word ‘You’ means too condescending. Thats the reason I used ‘We’. The problem is in the public place you can neither use ‘We’ nor use ‘You’. If I say ‘You’, somebody feels condescending. If I use the word ‘We’, then they may say if you also have the same problem how can you teach me, that is the big problem. Anyhow I don’t have a better word, so I use the word ‘We’. What usually we do is some joy, some suffering, some guilt….this is our life, different thoughts, different experiences. Usually you collect only all the suffering related incidents and create a SHAFT, create a connecting idea and think your life is nothing but suffering as shown below.
