Ishavasya Upanishad

Spirituality, Upanishads

Upanishads are not do’s and don’ts but the thought currents you need to cherish, enjoy, entertain for higher intelligence to happen in you!

Introducing Kenopanishad. Somebody asked me, “Human beings are just developed monkeys, but how we are able to perceive so much about the Universe, Planets, Space? How we are able to understand so much about all this? Why other animals, even the closest version of us, chimpanzees, are not able to catch, understand things about Universe. Why human beings are able to understand perceive, even manipulate, as we want? Already we have space stations, some of the big rocks coming towards the Planet Earth we can blast it or redirect it from there itself. Already we are able to manipulate movements in the space. How?

Please understand, because only human beings started asking the question – keneśitaṁ – by whom? This Upanishad is responsible for keeping one of the most important, powerful thought current responsible for human intelligence. Please understand, few of the thought currents responsible for why human beings are the way they are. Listen, few of the thought currents—why the human beings are the way they are.

The first thought current—“Who am I?”

Second – “What happens after death?”

Third, most subtle, most precious, most important thought current—“What is the source of all this?” What happens after death? — that thought current was kept alive in the humanity.

Please understand, no Upanishad is a conclusion.

I wanted you to understand this Truth. Neither Isha nor Kena, or Katha, or Mundaka, or Mandukya. No Upanishad is conclusion. That’s the beauty. Seeking thought currents consolidated for further research is Upanishads. Understand, it is not answer. The whole Isavasya Upanishad you won’t get a single answer. These are some of the thesis proposed, some of the thought currents needed to be cherished, pondered upon, thought about, those thought currents will give you 1000 question 2000 answers. But those thought currents need to be kept alive; for your next generation they may give 10,000 questions and 20,000 answers. (more…)

18th verse last day on Isavasya Upanishad. I wanted to give the essence of this Upanishad, through all the 18 verses, what they are trying to convey to us, they conveyed in the last verse, the essence.

agne naya supathā rāye asmān viśvāni deva vayunāni vidvān |

yuyodhy asmaj juhurāṇam eno bhūyiṣṭhāṁ te nama-uktiṁ vidhema || 18 ||

“O Agni, the Fire God! Knower of all our actions and all that is worth knowing, You must take us along the righteous and auspicious path of completion, leading us to experience the Supreme Consciousness, the original space of Complete Completion. O God, Consciousness! May you remove all our incompletions that are obstacles on our good path of completion, beyond coming and going, birth and death. Onto You we surrender with many reverential words, bowing down again and again.”

Listen. If I squeeze this whole 18 verses, the essence I see is intense seeking.

Seeking is the way God in you wakes up.

Understand, Seeking is the way God in you wakes up.

In the early morning sometimes you feel, you yourself will feel that you are dreaming. That is the way you wake up. How many of you have experienced the state that I am describing? Same way, listen. Seeking is the way you wake up to your reality. Don’t fall asleep, don’t turn away when the Seeking is awakened in you. Understand. After remembering you are dreaming, you just pull up your blanket and turn and sleep, how stupid you are. Same way, after just having seeking, after smelling seeking in your life, after tasting seeking in your life, if you just turn and loose that intensity in seeking that is the most stupid thing that can happen to you in your life. Understand,

Mahadeva’s silence is Upanishads. His words are Agamas.

When He breathed in silence, what reverberated in the inner space of the Rishis is Upanishads. When He opened His mouth, started explaining, that became Agama. Now, you are going to listen, Veda Agama. He is going to explain what He meant by His breath; what He wanted to convey, what way He wanted the inner-space of the Rishis reverberate. This commentary, or I should say the repetition, should be called as Shuddhādvaita Shaiva Deepika.

From the context of Shuddhādvaita Shaiva, let Upanishads become alive in all of you, in all of us, experientially.

So I will recite the mantras. Please repeat along with me, then I will read out the translation, and let Mahadeva expand on it:

pūṣann-ekarṣe yama sūrya prājāptya |
vyūha raśmin samūha |
tejo yat te rūpaṁ kalyāṇa-tamaṁ
tat te paśyāmi yo’sāvasau puruṣaḥ so’ ham asmi || 16 ||

Listen. I will read out the exact literal translation, and then reveal the sacred secrets. The literal translation is:

O Pūan, Consciousness, who is the nourisher, sustainer of all, the primeval solitary traveller, the disciplining principle of all, is like the bright, effulgent Sun, and is the Lord of entire creation, which is His subject. Please remove all Your rays of this radiating, brilliant golden light, which had blinded me, so that by Your grace, I can have the Divine vision of that most auspicious, graceful, beautiful form of Yours. That which is there, the glorious Sun, is the mirror of the Supreme Being, who is all-pervading, pure Consciousness of the Cosmos. Indeed, I am He. (more…)

vāyur-anilam amṛtam athedaṁ bhasmāntagṁ śarīram |
auṁ krato smara kṛtagṁ smara krato smara kṛtagṁ smara || 17 ||

Now I will give you the translation. I can translate on my own, but I wanted to first read out the literal translation to you.

Let the vital life-energy ‘Wind’ present in the body, now merge into the all-pervading, eternal cosmic life energy ‘Air’; and now let this gross body (along with subtle body) disintegrate into its basic elements and be reduced to the sacred ashes. O Supreme Consciousness, known by the sacred syllable ‘Auṁ’, remember—remember all that has been done to attain Oneness with You. O mind, remember—remember the Supreme Consciousness, the Lord of all enriching sacrifices, whom you have been always remembering in your actions.

I can say in this verse one of the most powerful spiritual practice is given. This process should be called as — Eternal Life Process. Anybody who does this process while he is alive will master this process to practice during the time he leaves the body, and that will naturally make him enlightened, and live the Eternal Life in the Cosmic Space.

Let the vital energy, wind, Vāyu, present in the body now merge into all-pervading eternal consciousness. Vayuranilam amṛtam, the eternal cosmic life-energy – vāyur-anilam amṛtam athedaṁ.

Understand, the great truth revealed in this verse, whatever you call it as life can merge with the Eternal Life; the body can go back to the basic elements, you relax into that Eternal Cosmic Life.

Every night when you fall asleep, if you practice this technique, it will become part of you, your very being, so when you fall into the eternal sleep, you will fall into Eternal Life. It’s actually a technique, the whole sutra, verse is technique – 17th verse of the Isavasya Upanishad. When you fall asleep remember vital life energy, vāyu, relax into the Cosmic Life Energy. Let this body go back to it’s elements, the Source, basic elements; let this consciousness become one with the eternal consciousness, the Oneness, let me remember this – krato smara kṛtagṁ smara krato smara kṛtagṁ smara | (more…)

Fire, Dhi is responsible for the knowledge to happen in you and it gets fully awakened by Integrity!

I will repeat the verse once, read out the translation. Then give you the commentary.

agne naya supathā rāye asmān viśvāni deva vayunāni vidvān |

yuyodhy asmaj juhurāṇam eno bhūyiṣṭhāṁ te nama-uktiṁ vidhema || 18 ||

I will read out the exact translation.

O Agni, the Fire God! Knower of all our actions, and all that is worth knowing, you must take us along the righteous and auspicious path of completion..

Please listen, you need to understand this, first line “O Agni, the Fire God! Knower of all our actions and all that is worth knowing” – means: even the modern science proves when your brain knows something that area gets lit up. The knowing action happens when the Fire moves into the certain part of the brain. Please understand, everything may be there outside you, you will not know if the Fire does not move in your brain. If the Fire moves in your brain, only then you will know what is happening. So, Fire is responsible for knowledge, knowing to happen in you.

Listen carefully.

Fire is responsible for the knowledge to happen in you. I tell you, Fire gets fully awakened by integrity. Nothing, just follow intensely integrity, in twelve months you will have a kind of a Fire in you through which you can know anything you want to know. Anything which comes in front of you, and you want to know it, you will know it. That fire is called ‘dhi’ in Sanskrit we use the word, a single letter ‘dhi’. All the ancient languages the fire is addressed as ‘dhi’. In Sanskrit, in Tamil, in many of the ancient languages. Listen, ‘Dhi’ comes as a gift to you, because of your integrity. Just twelve months decide, I will live in the space of integrity, no question of missing. Its just awareness, awareness practice, nothing else. The ‘dhi’ will be awakened in your brain. That ‘dhi’ will give you the intelligence to know everything you want, anything you want. (more…)

agne naya supathā rāye asmān viśvāni deva vayunāni vidvān |

yuyodhy asmaj juhurāṇam eno bhūyiṣṭhāṁ te nama-uktiṁ vidhema || 18 ||

Listen. Agni is the knower of all of our actions and all that is worth knowing in the Universe He knows. Please understand, anywhere knowledge happens, Agni has to be there. Without Agni knowledge cannot happen. All the spaces, planets, where Agni is not possible, knowledge is not possible. The modern day scientist are searching and trying to find if there is a place with is water, human beings will be there, aliens will be there, I tell you, no, if there is a place where Agni can happen, then only life can happen, knowledge can happen, nowhere else. Only where Agni can happen, knowledge can happen, life can happen, nowhere else. Agni, who is knower of all our actions, AND everything worth knowing. Whatever is worth knowing in the planet earth, Agni knows it, He knows it. The Upanishic Rishis are addressing Agni as knower of all of our actions, and all that is worth knowing. Then they pray – “you must take us along the righteous and auspicious path of completion. You must take us…” Please understand, the prayer is not casual, very deep, detailed, you ‘must’ take us along righteous and auspicious path of completion.

supathā rāye asmān viśvāni deva vayunāni vidvān |

You must take us along the righteous and auspicious path of completion, leading us to experience the Supreme Consciousness, the original space of Complete completion.

I can say that this is the best prayer you can offer to God when you meet him personally. This is the best prayer you can offer to your Guru, when you meet him directly.

O Agni, the Fire God! Knower of all our actions and all that is worth knowing, You must take us along the righteous and auspicious path of completion, leading us to experience the Supreme Consciousness, the original space of Complete Completion. O God, Consciousness! May you remove all our incompletions that are obstacles on our good path of completion; beyond coming and going, birth and death. Onto You we surrender with many reverential words, bowing down again and again.

Listen. The first part of the verse I explained – the best prayer you can do is – lead us to take us along the righteous and auspicious path of Completion, the original space of Complete Completion.

The next line – “Oh God, Consciousness. May you remove all of our incompletions that are obstacles on our good path, and completion beyond coming and going, birth and death.”

The Advaitha, please listen, Oneness becomes your reality with the Love Current of Mahadeva. Please understand, when you authentically experience Love Current of Mahadeva, the Oneness you experience will continue to keep you retain the juice of celebrating Mahadeva, understand? Today, I wanted to expand on some of the most subtle points.

यस्मिन् सर्वाणि भूतान्यात्मैवाभूद् विजानतः ।
तत्र को मॊहः कः शॊक एकत्वमनुपश्यतः ॥
Yasmin SarvaaNi Bhoothaani Aathmaivaabhoodh Vijaanathaha |
Tathra Ko Mohaha Kah Shoka Ekathvam Anupashyathaha ||

“In one who has cognized the reality, all existing beings become the very Self. Then what delusion, what sorrow of incompletion can there be for that Seer living in the space of Oneness, Living Advaitha?”

Listen! The Love Current of Mahadeva leads you to Oneness experience. After that, after the experience of Oneness, the way you live will be the Love Current of Mahadeva, understand? Love is not just a path for experiencing Oneness. After experience the Oneness, the utility value of life itself is Love. If you start practicing love now, meditating on Love Current of Mahadeva, you will experience Oneness, and after experiencing Oneness, the way you operate, the way you cognize, the way you move, the way you live, the way you exist, the whole thing will be same Love in a different dimension.

Always there is a conflict between Advaithis and Bhakthas. Always Advaithis declare these Bhakthas as “Leelavaadhis”: ‘All the time talking about devotion, devotion; they never experience the Oneness.’ And, always these Bhakthas go on criticizing these Advaithis as “Mayavaadhis”, delusionists: ‘They don’t celebrate devotion and love.’ And there is also a subtle deep fear that if you experience Oneness, you may lose the devotion; it may all become all “Me”, “Me”, “Me”, “Me”. From the side of devotees, they feel, ‘Oh, if we experience Oneness, it will all become “Me”, “Me”, “Me”. Devotion will be lost.’ From the Advaithis, ‘Oh, if I experience devotion, that is all! The state I am in, I may lose it! I will fall into duality!’ It is such a stupid misunderstanding! (more…)

Mahadeva revealed Upanishads to Ramachandra Prabhu, Lakshmana and Sita under the Banyan Tree in Bidadi Nithyanandeshwara Temple

This number 18 very significant in Vedic tradition – Bhagavad Gita 18 chapter, Mahabharat War 18 days, all the major temples, whether it is Sabarimala, Madurai Kallazhagar temple or the Engoi Mallai  – always 18 steps and the 18 akroni Sena fought the Mahabharat war. 18 is very significant number, but all 18s came after this Isavasya Upanishad’s 18 verses. This is the first 18; because, please understand, Ishavasya Upanishad is the first Upanishad.

Rama, listen, Rama when He lived in Ramanagaram, received all the 108 Upanishads at a time from Mahadeva under our Banyan Tree, and after the victory when He came back, He brought, see after the victory and He came back, he had Pattabhishekam and he brought Hanuman and showed all the places He traveled. They had a vacation tour. At that time, Hanuman also came to this place, and then again sitting in Ramanagaram, that hill, Rama put the whole 108 Upanishads names together, what He received from Mahadeva and repeated to Hanuman, that is Muktikopanishad.

Please understand, whatever I am saying is Fact, Truth and Reality from the Cosmic archives, the Akashic Records sooner or later you will find evidences for this. (more…)

Remember the right context of prayer – Soh’amasmi, and Pray. HE will give Himself to you.

Before entering into the next verse, I only wanted to add these few ideas. Please understand, whenever you pray….See prayer is the important component of our life especially if you are a seeker. Just like breathing, prayer becomes very important part of you. Prayer just becomes you! Prayer becomes important ‘You.’

Please understand the word I am uttering – Prayer becomes important YOU. I am not saying – to you, for you. Important YOU: means one part of you should become a prayer. Prayer is very important component, very important part of your life, especially if you are seeker. But, you always need to know the right context and understanding you need to hold during prayer. When you pray to a deity or Guru, have this context – I am praying to the Source where you and me are one and the same. I do not know whether that Source is here or there; because in the beginning when you are too much inside, the Source will be outside. Slowly, slowly when you start becoming lighter and lighter, the Source will move inside. Please understand, in the beginning when you are too much occupied inside, the Source where you and the Guru or God meeting, the source point will be outside. Because you are too much inside, how can that Source be here? But, slowly, slowly when you become lighter and lighter, more and more have completion, the Source moves inside.

So pray, “Oh the Source, where you and me are one and the same, I pray to you, you make this into reality.”

Whatever you want to say, say. In this way, you will never feel cheated. Understand, Guru will not give you what you want. Your stupid mind will try to make you feel – you have been cheated. It is like, I have seen in India, girls, the moment they become 19, just because father does not buy a cell phone for her, they develop a love affair with a boy who will gift a cell phone and run away, get married. They don’t live more than 1 or 2 years, divorce and come back. Please understand, I am not talking something exaggerated. I am talking something happening in villages. When she is depressed, that father is not giving her cell phone, that boy is using that depression to put himself as a hero into her. Once she feels he is hero, over. Understand, always the negative sources will try to show themselves as hero to you, when you feel you are not granted the boon you asked from Guru or God, whatever. (more…)

Remembrance of Oneness only is required during death, because all obstacles have already become useless to you

Let me enter into today’s Upanishad verse. 17th verse. Please chant along with me.

vāyur-anilam amṛtam athedaṁ  bhasmāntagṁ śarīram |

auṁ krato smara kṛtaguṁ smara  krato smara kṛtaguṁ smara || 17 ||

Please repeat.

au krato smara ktagu smara  krato smara ktagu smara |

vāyur-anilam amṛtam athedaṁ  bhasmāntagṁ śarīram |

auṁ krato smara kṛtaguṁ smara  krato smara kṛtaguṁ smara || 17 ||

I can say this is the Hindu way of approaching the Death. Please understand, this verse gives so many unsaid, deeper level of understandings.

vāyur-anilam amṛtam athedaṁ  bhasmāntagṁ śarīram |

auṁ krato smara kṛtaguṁ smara  krato smara kṛtaguṁ smara || 17 ||

Let the vital life-energy ‘Wind’ present in the body, now merge into the all-pervading, eternal cosmic life-energy; and now let this gross body along with subtle body, disintegrate into its basic elements and be reduced to the sacred ashes.

Please understand each of these verse are very important. The way Sanatana Dharma approaches Death it’s very clear, the body has nothing useful. It has no use after death, that is why they say, let it disintegrate – bhasmāntagu śareeram. This verse declares about the need of cremation for Hindus. Why cremation in Hinduism? It is this verse shows the way why cremation in Hindu tradition, because – vāyur-anilam amtam atheda. Let the ‘prana’ merge with the Cosmic Prana. bhasmāntagu śareeram – let the body go back to its basic elements, no use! After you leave the body, it has no use; you don’t need this after that. If you want, you will have one more body. You will take a new body, but this itself is not required. (more…)

Seeking and Living Enlightenment is nothing but reorganizing yourself, not developing yourself

Understand last 15 verses of Isavasya Upanishad, the essence in one word is Seeking.

Intense decision to have seeking. I tell you, the ferociousness of seeking is powerful enough like the fire of Kalabhairava to burn everything which needs to be burnt and destroyed. Please listen, I’ll repeat:

the ferociousness of seeking is powerful enough, as the fire of Kalabhairava, to burn everything which need to be burnt inside you – laziness, tiredness, boredom, everything which needs to be burnt inside you, everything which needs to be taken out of you can be just like that burnt. Just like that taken away. Just like that cleared, by seeking.

Listen. How many microseconds it will take for negativity to disappear in front of Kalabhairava’s ferociousness? Not even micro millisecond! Same way, the seeking, deciding to seek your home, deciding to seek where you can have eternal rest, deciding to seek where you can have eternal peace, deciding to seek where you can have eternal bliss, that decision itself, that seeking itself is powerful enough, listen,  powerful enough to give you the freedom to reorganize yourself. At the age of 10, in Arunachaleshwara temple in the shrine, Sannidhi of Devi – Unnamalai Amman. I was standing in one corner, suddenly I saw the cosmic geometrical representation. That time I did not know the word, only now, later on I came to know, it is Sri Yantra in the golden, shining, absolute, energy light form. And then, Devi appeared in this very form She is gracing now with Lakshmi and Saraswati. When I had darshan I saw only Devi Bhuvaneshwari. Here she is gracing with Lakshmi and Saraswati. There, when I had darshan, I saw Her only this form – the Ankusha and Pasha and Abhaya and Varada. It’s just too much, too much. Slowly that very geometry and that form, both disappeared into My inner-space. Then I went back to home, carved the deity as I experienced in the stone, carved the Devi, the same way I saw in stone and carved that Sri Chakra the same way I saw in copper plate. This happened. You can see the yantra I carved after the darshan at the age of 10 and this is the deity of the Devi I carved a the age of 10. Actually this happened during Navaratri only. I do not know whether it happened exactly on the 4th day and 5th day and all that. But during the Navaratri time.

Let me enter into the Upanishad. Ishavasya Upanishad. I was expanding continuously. Today I will continue to expand on 16th verse. Recite along with me.

Listen, the seventeenth verse of Isavasya Upanishad.

vāyur-anilam amṛtam athedaṁ bhasmāntagṁ śarīram |

auṁ krato smara kṛtagṁ smara krato smara kṛtagṁ smara || 17 ||

Listen, when you declare – “let my prāṇa become the prāṇa of the Cosmos, let my breathing pattern become one with that breathing pattern of the Cosmos” – your bio-memory will rest in the space of Completion.

Understand, all incompletion is tension, stress. All Completion is relaxation and restfulness. All Completion is relaxation. All incompletion is stress. Even in the work if you are stressed, I can give you 120% guarantee you are not going to do the work, because first being in the relaxed mood is the basic condition. Freedom is the basic condition for growth; restful awareness is the basic condition for anything to happen. Stressed means, you are confused; you are not clear what you are supposed to do. Completion is restful awareness, restful awareness is Completion. Restfulness, restfulness is not laziness. Please be very clear, I am not promoting your laziness. I am promoting restful awareness. When you decide  – “let my breathing pattern become one with the Cosmic breathing pattern” – your bio-memory will rest in the space of Completion.

Next very powerful technique:  bhasmāntagṁ śarīram |

Lie down in your bed, before you falling asleep, declare – “let my breathing pattern become one with the Cosmic breathing pattern” – that is, just declaration is enough.

hiraṇmayena pātreṇa satyasyāpihitaṁ mukhaṁ |
tat tvaṁ pūṣann-apāvṛṇu satya-dharmāya dṛṣṭaye || 15 ||

The Truthful, Effulgent, Eternal Being is the ultimate sustainer, nourisher and protector of all that exists! You are the embodiment of the imperishable Truth and Reality. Your Divine face of Truth is concealed by the blinding dazzling upturned pot, which has golden orb of effulgence. This radiant golden pot conceals your glorious face of Truth from my view. O Pūṣan, O Sun, O Complete One, do reveal Yourself by removing that glaring veil, for I, on the path of Truth, am eager to have your Divine vision.

Understand, there are tons of things you need to understand to understand this verse.

First of all, when the human beings started seeking. Please understand, origin of seeking is from Sarasvati-Ganges civilization. Just recently some of the western historians jointly gave a statement – the Greece civilization is a complete hoax created to put down the Ganges-Saravati civilization, just to distort the history because they do not want the credit to go to Ganges civilization. So the hoax called Greece civilization was invented. Seeking started in Ganges civilization. Understand, when the seeking started how human beings responded, how human beings reacted, how they expressed when the seeking started expressing in them; when the experience of seeking started in them. Discovering the context of Imperishable for all the major decisions of your life is Living Enlightenment

I will expand on Isavasya Upanishad. Usually when I come to Varanasi I speak on Kathopanishad. This time I decided I will continue on Isavasya Upanishad because last time we couldn’t spend much time on Kathopanishad. I was expanding on 14th verse of Isavasya Upanishad.

sambḥutiṁ ca vināśaṁ ca..

Actually I am uttering only one word. One word easily you all can recite. Listen and repeat. You don’t have to feel intimidated, ‘Oh Sanskrit. I don’t know.’ I am not giving you long words. Please understand, these sounds are very powerful, they can sit inside your inner space, go on purifying on. They are like powerful inner purifiers. So listen and recite.

sambḥutiṁ ca vināśaṁ ca yastad vedobhayaṁ saha |

Just recite. It’s the 14th verse of Isavasya Upanishad. I will give you the translation.

One who cognizes the pure essence of these both—the imperishable consciousness, the cause of manifestation and the destructible, the perishable, manifested entities, simultaneously—such a person completes with the fear of death and transcends death by worshiping or by knowledge of the perishable entities; and reaches the imperishable consciousness; celebrates the nectar of immortality and bliss, the eternal space of oneness.

Now listen. It’s the literal translation I have read out. The key word in this whole Upanishad, you need to understand. What Upanishad is trying to convey it to you. Listen. (more…)

Somebody asked Buddha, “Buddha, how you see your Sangha growing in the future?” He says very beautifully, “if my Sannyasis are able to inspire the truth of imperishable on the Grihastas, what I want will happen. The other way, if the Grihastas are able to inspire the Sannyasis about the perishable, it will happen as they want”. Understand, very simple word. Even in our Sangha, I can just shout out names, straight away I can shout out names. Instead of Sannyasis impressing, inspiring the people about the imperishable, Grihastas have inspired the Sannyasis about perishable. Of course, ultimately one truth is how much of perishable is inside you, how much of imperishable is inside you, that decides whether you are going to be a Sannyasi or a Grihasta. That’s the truth.

It is your strength and the amount of imperishable you worship, the akshara, undying component of you which is the strength. (more…)

Listen intensely what Upanishads are trying to convey through this to you. The first thing, the key word — what you are worshiping in you life. Please understand, here worshiping does not just mean in front of whom you bow down, in front of what you bow down. What you think as goal of your life. What you remember again and again. Please understand., you may be bowing down in front of Shiva deity for money, then you are worshiping money. Whether it is right or wrong, don’t bother now, first let us diagnose, understand –

what you are worshiping in your life?

You may bow down in front of any God, Goddess, Guru, but what you think as the essence of your life, what you think as the lakshya (goal) of your life, that is what you are worshiping. (more…)

The spirit of seeking is much more than Enlightenment itself!

I will expand on the next verse of Isavasya Upanishad. 15th verse of Isavasya Upanishad.

hiraṇmayena pātreṇa satyasyāpihitaṁ mukhaṁ |
tat tvaṁ pūṣann-apāvṛṇu satya-dharmāya dṛṣṭaye || 15 ||

The Truthful, Effulgent, Eternal Being is the ultimate sustainer, nourisher and protector of all that exists. You are the embodiment of the imperishable Truth and Reality. Your Divine face of Truth is concealed by the blinding dazzling and upturned pot, which has golden orb of effulgence. This radiant golden pot conceals your glorious face of truth from my view. O Pūṣan, O Sun, O Complete One, do reveal Yourself by removing that glaring veil, for I, on the path of Truth, am eager to have your Divine vision.

hiraṇmayena pātreṇa satyasyāpihitaṁ mukhaṁ |
tat tvaṁ pūṣann-apāvṛṇu satya-dharmāya dṛṣṭaye || 15 ||

Please understand, before entering into this verse and commenting on it, I wanted to set the context, the key ideas, the key truths, sacred secrets, the Upanishadic Masters are trying to reveal through this Upanishad. Seeking. Understand, this whole verse describes necessity, power of seeking. Seeking is not what you call as religion or spirituality.

Please listen. Much of your religion and spirituality is just business and bargain, gambling, give and take, negotiation in the silence. Sometimes vocally, sometimes locally, sometimes silently, but negotiation goes on, goes on, goes on. Sometimes with that rough stuff of heaven and hell. Sometimes with the subtle stuff of love and hatred. Sometimes the more subtle feeling connected or feeling rejected, but much of your religion and spirituality is business, bargain, negotiation, gambling. Seeking does not fall under any of this category. (more…)

If you think your life span is much more, then the idea of your pleasures will become different.

14th verse of the Isavasya Upanishad.

sambḥutiṁ ca vināśaṁ ca yastad vedobhayaṁ saha |

vināśena mṛtyuṁ tīrtvā sambhūtyāmṛtam aśnute || 14 ||

Listen. Understand. Cognize your existence, cognize the existence of the life, universe, God, everything with the larger vision. Listen, why you do what you do? Why you think the way you think? – should be based on larger vision of life not just an immediate ‘agitational gratification’. Please understand, all your so-called luxury, the sensory pleasures are agitation gratification. Please understand, the agitation you feel in the tongue you gratify it with the food which destroys your health, but gives you temporary gratification. (more…)

Inner Awakening, Spirituality, Upanishads

More and more you complete all the incompletions, the more and more your perception will expand

I will enter into Isavasya Upanishad, thirteenth (13th) verse. Please chant along with me.

anyad-evāhuḥ sambhavād anyad-āhur-asambhavāt |

iti śuśruma dhīrāṇāṁ ye nastad vicacakṣire || 13 ||

 Translation goes:

It is said that from the worship of the imperishable Consciousness, the cause of manifestation [sambhavāt] certainly a different result is attained. And it is said that from the worship of the manifested, perishable entities [asambhavāt] such as gods, spirits, ancestors, a very different result is attained—thus we have heard the revelation from those wise beings who explained that absolute principle to us.

Listen.

What should be your goal? What needs to be worshipped? What should be the ultimate cherished object of you? — that question is being analyzed and answered here. Listen. What should be the cherished goal?

Please understand, whatever you cherish as goal is only worshipped by you. Worship does not mean the few minutes you bow down or the aarti (offering light to divine) you show or the food you offer. Worship means what you constantly remember as highest possibility for you; what you constantly remember as completion of you; what you constantly remember as possibility of you. If you think money will bring fulfillment to you, money fulfills you, naturally money is only worshiped by you. Even if you worship any God in any form you are worshiping for the sake of money. So money is only worshipped in this form. If you are worshiping Lakshmi for the sake of money, you are actually worshipping only money not Lakshmi. Lakshmi is only, as long as she is the embodiment of money. Suddenly if Lakshmi decides – “I am not going to disperse money to people who call upon me”, you will stop worshiping!

So understand, if you are worshiping Saraswati just for knowledge, you are only worshiping knowledge. Whatever you think as the fruit of your life, whatever you think is needed for your completion whatever you think is needed for your fulfillment, what you think as the better half of you, the other part of you… Listen. In one of His teachings, Ramana Maharishi says very clearly – it is very difficult to feel the spirituality, the social conscious awakening is what is required for you to feel fulfillment, because most of us never become sensitive enough to perceive the ultimate truth as it is. Understand our perception always gets stuck. (more…)

Indian Gurukul, The Future Of Education

au saha nāvavatu | saha nau bhunaktu | saha vīryam karvāvahai |

tejasvi nāvadhītamastu mā vidviāvahai ||

auśāntiśāntiśānti ||

I first want to introduce this concept of   ShantiMantra, which is unique to Indian education system, pre-macaulay.

Please understand, I do not want to accept anything post-macaulay as Indian Education system. The cultural genocide done by the British where everything Indian is disrespected, thrown destroyed. Nothing Indian is respected as worthy. The deep self-doubt planted into us. Still we are not able to get out of it. Please understand, still we are not able to get out of it, still we are stuck with it. It has gone so deep into it, into our system. Still we are not able to get out of it. The self-doubt, self-hatred, self-denial, we have been put in. So when I say Indian education system, I mean pre-maxmullar, pre-macaulay—our original education system. (more…)

Approaching everything with tremendous love and patience from the context of grasping the Truth is Seeking

With this I will move tenth verse of the Isavasya Upanishad. Please recite along with me.

anyad evāhur vidyayā-anyad āhur avidyayā |

iti śuśruma dhīrāṇaṁ ye nastad vicacakṣire ||

I will read out the translation.

It is said by Vidya, the knowledge cognized from the right context of grasping the Truth, Consciousness and the superficial knowledge acquired from the wrong context of grabbing without cognizing the subtle Truths, certainly a different result is achieved. Similarly it is said that by Avidya the authentic actions and the ignorant actions a very different result is achieved. Thus have we listened from those wise beings who have explained that absolute principle to us.

Listen.

Constantly keeping your seeking alive makes you grasp the Truth, you will not try to grab them. Understand, for example you see somebody melting down, overflowing, with that melting devotion offers a Bilva leaf to Mahadeva and he is liberated. You see that and then you also decide, Yes, if I pluck that tree, leaf and put it on this statue I will have liberation. That is what is grabbing the Truth. Understand, you are not grasping it, you are grabbing it. You only see the action. (more…)

Spirituality, Upanishads

The highest spiritual practice constantly reinventing yourself and re-strategizing yourself by catching the Master’s words.

See, once first time when you hear Guru’s words, with so much of seeking, interest, excitement, you enjoy it, start picking up many things and internalizing as part of your life, and then after some time, your seeking comes down, you listen but take it for granted, “Ok, Ah, like this only he talks, it’s ok, I have heard enough,” slowly, slowly, when you take Guru’s words for granted, His words for granted,

How many years you may listen to satsang, you create a huge iron wall around you, the Guru’s words never penetrates and becomes part of you, because with each word you created a pain pattern, how not to allow that into you to get internalized, how to keep  that away from you. Either your earlier failures, or thinking that I tried but it’s not working out, He is great but it’s not going to work out for me, developing some kind of these patterns, thought trends, and seeking is also, when it is lost, even if you live around the Master for years listening to satsang for years nothing happens to you, you have become a dangerously un-trainable, non-transformable, understand.

Taking the Master’s words for granted, not taking them into your heart and making your life align to it, not using the words of the Master and reinventing your life and re-strategizing is the worst thing can happen to you because, listen, because, other than the Master’s words, there is no anchor available to planet earth.

Please understand, anybody who has drowned in the ocean of samsara, the ocean of delusion and bondage, the only anchor available to raise yourself to the next level is Master’s words. From the other plane of existence, the only bridge available to this plane, this universe, is an Enlightened Master’s words.

If you don’t catch that and raise yourself, nothing else- no puja, no meditation, no spiritual practice can help you. The highest spiritual practice is catching the Master’s words, constantly reinventing yourself and re-strategizing yourself.

Reinventing and re-strategizing and yourself is the only way, re-strategizing yourself, with every Master’s words, reinventing yourself, with every word of the Master, is Seeking.

If your seeking is alive, you will go on reinventing yourself. You will raise yourself by yourself! You will be so alive! So active! Understand. You will be so brilliant, so energetic, because seeking is the most powerful, most powerful way you can exist, you can experience you.

So again, the subject for today’s Vaakyartha Sadas, I wanted it to be keeping your seeking pure and how not to take Master’s words for granted. How not to take Him, His words, for granted. I wanted this to be your subject for Vaakyartha Sadas today.

Spirituality, Upanishads

Whatever spiritual practice you do should make you more and more strong seeker.

I will continue to expand on 10th verse of Isavasya Upanishad.

anyad evāhur vidyayā-anyad āhur avidyayā |

iti śuśruma dhīrāṇaṁ ye nastad vicacakṣire || 10 ||

I will read out the translation:

It is said that by vidyā, the knowledge cognized from the right context of grasping the Truth, Consciousness and the superficial knowledge acquired from the wrong context of grabbing, without cognizing the subtle Truth, certainly the different result is achieved. Similarly, it is said that by avidyā, the authentic actions and the ignorant actions a very different result is achieved thus having listened to those wise beings who explained the absolute principle to us.

Listen. Without the context of seeking, even renunciation can lead you into laziness. (more…)
